Studying Abroad – Barcelona Update

This is now my 3rd week here in Barcelona and I’m finding that what is growing the most is my
CONFIDENCE

For the past few years, I have found more and more situations where I know I only feel the way I do because my confidence is not where it should be. I felt like there was a time when I may not have known everything but I was confident enough to ask questions or be rejected and it wouldn’t have a big effect on me. One of my goals is to get back to that!

Last week, I memorised and performed 4 speeches, practiced Business Spanish and participated in many sector chats as well as a lot of career preparation. Fixed my resume about 10 times and started my company list to reach out to. The official term starts September 27 so I’m just enjoying these last few “chill” days while I can.

At the end, I’ve learned a lot as it definitely was tiring but I’m excited for what’s ahead!

It helped already having weekend plans as you can see 😉

Recap: I don’t feel like I took enough pictures this week so I will do better going forward. I’m still trying to balance out how to capture memories while also still living in the moment and enjoying my time.

Learnings This Week:

  1. How Case Interviews Work as well as what Logic Trees Are
  2. There is basically no such thing as a 24/7 gym here in Spain. They also don’t open before sunrise.
  3. I truly see why they are not as fat over here. I average 15K steps every day mixed between walking and riding the shared city bikes (Bicing)
  4. I am where I am supposed to be
  5. Spanish culture is never on time. 10 minutes late is still considered on time
  6. MBA programs (especially international MBA programs) probably bring in +$1MM into the economy every year

This week, we don’t have class on Friday because it is a holiday here, La Mercè, which is Barcelona’s largest street party that happens at the end of September to signify the beginning of Fall. Stay tuned..going to try and vlog my next post!
